My work with textured hair began long before it became a profession.

I'm Melita, also known as Tee, a South London based hairstylist and loctician working across session hairstyling, locs, braiding and creative styling.

​

As a Black British Caribbean woman, my relationship with Afro textured hair has been shaped by lived experience within family, community and everyday life. That foundation continues to influence my approach to hair, from understanding its behaviour and structure to exploring the creative possibilities of hairstyling.

While my foundations are rooted in Afro hair, my work extends across different hair textures, lengths and densities. I continue to develop my skills and techniques, bringing both technical knowledge and creativity to my work.

Alongside my client services, I've gained experience working on commercial campaigns, fashion shows and editorial projects, both independently and as part of professional hair teams. I'm continuing to expand my experience within the session hairstyling industry.

I'm also the founder of Rooted By Tee, where I specialise in loc care, maintenance, braiding and styling.

At the heart of my work is connection. Whether working with an individual client or as part of a creative production, I value collaboration, attention to detail and the opportunity to bring ideas to life through hair.
